Here is a typical store layout, with the front of the store to the right.

This layout depicts the older-style, white "battleship" displays. Newer stores have
rectangular, light-colored wooden desks to display the merchandise. This lay-out includes a rear theater and
front POS terminals. Notice the small round display stands between the various major sections, which display
selected third-party peripherals, incuding PDAs, portable hard disk drives, etc.

In June 2005, Apple changed the standard lay-out of its stores: They moved the 'home' section to
where the 'pro' section was, and added an 'iPod' section where 'home' had been, reflecting the obvious
increased importance of the iPod and music.

In October 2005 Apple again changed the product display lay-out to further emphasize the most-popular
products--iPods, iMac minis and iMacs. Check this full report.
