Store Information Applications

In September 2004 Apple installed an application on all the computers in the retail stores, permanently residing in the center of the screen. It offered four options, as depicted below:

The first icon leads to a Web page (http://genius.apple.com/kiosk/?store=R0xx) to allow a customer to make a Genius Bar reservation in the store.

The next icon "Classes & Events" leads to a iCal calendar of that particular store's events, apparently stored on the local store's Xserve.

The third icon "Product Info" icon leads to the following Apple Web page that gathers information about the customer:

The final main icon leads to an application screen showing two options: Keep me informed, and Reserve a product--

Clicking on the first option leads to a Web page on server operated by Web Associates, Inc., a company that frequently helps Apple with prospect and customer management. In this case, Web Associates seems to be maintaining a mailing list of persons who have expressed interest in products--

Clicking on the other option leads to another Web page--
