Shadyside 'Studio' Revealed in Photos
| Thanks to the passing tipster who found an open view of the Shadyside retail store in the final stages of construction, and who took photos from a public place. Besides being unusually visible, the store reveals two very new items: the new "Studio" concept and logo, and the world's smallest Genius Bar.
The "Studio" concept is taking shape, as defined by the store's description on Apple's Web page. First, Apple has hired 2 full-time and 2 part-time "Creatives" to give classes and help visitors with software and projects. Second, they'll offer hands-on, interactive, fee-based training on Getting Started, Photoshop, Motion and Final Cut Pro-HD. The training is broken down into either 2 or 3 sessions lasting 2 or 3 hours, and priced at $99 per session. You can take one more more of the sessions per topic, which all start at 9 a.m. at Shadyside. Thirdly, the store will offer an "Open Studio" session from noon to 6/7/8 p.m., during which the Creatives will help you out with any creative project--the tag line is "Just step up and ask." During this time, Creatives will focus on how to, "create beautiful photo albums, design slick letterheads, make Hollywood-style movies, retouch photos, compose music, "or whatever you want to learn about." Also see another collection of photos of the store construction.
In this view, you can see the near "home" section, followed by "music," the "kids" section, and then the section marked by the traditional overhead sign as simply "genius." At the far left you can get a glimpse of the new section--"Studio."
A view straight back into the Shadyside store, showing the new Apple retail "Studio" sign, which appears to be concentric, off-center circles. Interestingly, flanking the "Studio" sign are LCD screens that typically accompany the Genius Bar, which at this store is just beyond the "kids" section, and just beyond that section's giant "ball" seats. You can barely see the telephone on top of the bar--which appears to be quite narrow. There appear to be sufficient bar stools for both the "Studio" and the Genius Bar. |
