San Francisco Apple Store - Grand Opening
Early Morning
February 28, 2004

When the sun came up about 6:30 a.m., the streets were quiet, some people were still sleeping, but the excitement--and the waiting line--were building. The line extended west on O'Farrell to Powell St., where it turned south to Ellis St.

San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom arrived about 8:45 a.m., followed within minutes by former mayor Willie Brown and Steve Jobs. It was Brown who cut the ceremonial red ribbon, being held at each end by Jobs and Newsom.
