Regent Street Apple Store
July 25, 2004

The week after I visited the Regent Street (London) Apple retail store site, workers removed the scaffolding that obscured most of the lower floors. But thanks to Wesley, here is what the front of the building will eventually look like. Note the bottom photo showing the detail of the mosaic tile work above the arches.

A view of the mosaic tilework above the Apple store area. The names of major world cities (Paris, New York, Berlin, etc.) are listed within some gold-colored boxes,
but some other boxes are empty (to be filled in later?). Within the right side, middle arch is the Lion of St. Mark, which is a symbol of Venice (Italy). The same lion
appears on the clock tower in Piazza San Marco in Venice. Thanks to Graham for noting that on the left side, middle arch is the British version of the royal lion.
