Regent Street (London) Update
February 22, 2004

Many thanks to Michael for taking these exclusive photos of the building in which the future Regent Street Apple retail store will be located. The entire block is being redeveloped, and it's impossible to know exactly where the Apple store will appear. Of course, Apple does like corner locations.

Update - In early April 2004 I received information that Apple would occupy the central section of the block, and both the ground and second floors. In the top-left photo below, the near and far corners would be occupied by other tenants, with Apple in the middle.

As you can see, this is a very densely-packed shopping district of London, between Oxford Circus and Picadilly Circus. The buildings' architecture generally still reflects London's older history--not a lot of stainless steel and glass here. There is some talk that Apple and other retailers will be restricted in the design of the front facade of the stores.
