Lincoln Road Store

In mid-August the future Lincoln Road (Miami Beach, Fla.) retail store was formally announced on Apple's jobs listing Web page. The mall was once in a district of the city that was considered "seedy," but has recently been revitalized with hip retail outlets.

In August, 2004 Miami Beach developer Michael Comras purchased the former Moseley's Linens property at 738 Lincoln Rd., and immediately leased it to Apple Computer for a retail store. The property is about 15,000 square-feet, although now it's not clear how much of this will eventually be used by Apple for retail space. The store is officially a 2-story structure, although the bottom photo appears to show that only the rear portion of the building has a second floor.

Joseph Moseley opened the store in 1934, and it became the primary source of custom-made clothing, bedsheets, tablecloths and anything else made of cloth. His two sons took over the business about 45 years ago, and business has slowly tapered off. For several years developer Miami Beach (Fla.) Michael Comras had been asking to buy store and the adjacent property. Finally, the sons gave in during Aug. 2004 and decided to sell the property and retire.

Update: The storefront was revealed in July 2006, and Apple will occupy the far-right space shown in the first photo.

Thanks to Enzo for these photos.

The Moseleys owned this corner property, and the linen store is immediately to the right under the green awning. The space that will become an Apple store is to the far right, below the tall white pillars.

The front of MOseley's, which will close as soon as the inventory is sold. Out of the photo to the right is BCBG fashion store.

Another view of Moseley's, with the En Avance store to the left, which is a ritzy clothing store whose previous customers have included celebrities like Madonna, Cameron Diaz, Jon Secada and Robert Dinero.

The distinctive inside of Moseley's Linens store on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach (Fla.). Note the high ceilings and "beam" treatment. The rear of the store appears to have a mezzanine. The building was built in 1934, when the store first opened.
