Ginza Store - Grand Opening Line
The first person got in line at 6 a.m. Saturday for the 10 a.m. Sunday grand opening of the Ginza (Tokyo) Apple store. Two more people got in line at 9 a.m., and nine others arrived by midnight Saturday to hold an overnighter. By 7 a.m. there were 195 people in line, and then things really took off! At 9 a.m. there were 705 persons in line, and at noon there were 1,054 in line.
However, between 9 a.m. and noon the line extended much further. Check this 10-minute video of the entire line (1,982 in line), and these photos that include Ron Johnson walking to the end of the line, which appears tobe longer than the video line.
Here's the map of the waiting line, showing how long it was at various times. You should know that the blocks are very long in the Ginza.
