Thanks to Liezl for these Nov. 19, 2005 photos of the under-construction Fukuoka (Japan) retail store.

The building resembles others in Japan--stainless steel with a back-lit logo, no windows on the second floor, and windows on the third floor. In this case, you can see lettering on the ceiling of the third floor that says "D Cafe."

Workers are installing lettering on the inside of the front window with Apple's Japan Web URL and "Coming Soon," as well as a white Apple logo.

You can easily see that the store is essentially finished, but empty.

A metal barrier keeps passersby away from the front of the store as workers install the front window glass signage. The differences in color of the stainless steel above the window is a trick of lighting, not a difference in the metal. You can see that the side display furniture has not been installed.
