New Podium When the Eaton Centre (Toronto) store opened on May 6, 2006, it debuted a new piece of store furniture: a podium with a cylindrical, stainless steel base, and white plastic top that is lighted from beneath. The display surface is very small, in this case enough just for a laptop and iPod Hi-Fi. The podiums are placed at the front of the store for maximum visibility.
A view from the frnot of the store, showing the front-most podium. It has a stainless steel base, and a thick plastic top that is lighted from below. There is a second podium about 15 feet further into the store (behind the taller man in the grey shirt).
The exposure of this photo gives the podium more of a "glow" than is apparent within the store. Even so, it gives a idea of its magnetism.
This photo by brendan shows the lighting quality of the podium within the brightly-lit store. It seems to be intended to attract visitors like moths.
This shot most accurately shows the balance of lighting between the store and the podium itself--it's bright but not overwhelming in relation to the store's lighting.
In this shot you can see both podiums in the center of the store, in the second section from the front door. Also check this flickr photo for a shot of both podiums in one frame. |
