Country Club Plaza

The Country Club Plaza (Mo.) store is set in an old brick building south of downtown, in an historic shopping district. As you can see from these photos, Apple used its standard stainless steel façade, but reduced the size of the panels so it wouldn't overwhelm the spectacular features of the existing building. They spruced up the building, but generally left all the original features for passersby to enjoy. Thanks to Scott for sharing these photos!

In this photo below, note the tile roof, the arches duplicated above the windows and under the eaves, the "sunrise" tile mosaic, the red-and-blue lanterns both on the second level, and high on the ground level, and the thin stainless steel side panels.

In the photo below, note the red-and-blue lanterns, the stone work just below the windows, and the stone sidewalk. The store uses an inset doorway so the open doors don't project into the sidewalk space. Just above the horizontal stainless steel panel, and to the outside of the vertical panels, is stonework "piping" that resembles frosting on a cake.

In the photo below, you can see better detail of the second floor level, and those very spectacular lanterns. There are tiny lights attached to the lower arches and windows that are turned on Thanksgiving to mid-January as part of the shopping district's holiday festivities.
