Location: Village at Corte Madera, 1618 Redwood Highway, Corte Madera CA, Space #1516/C33, formerly Cambridge Soundworks.
First in Line: Justin and Ian at 6:45 a.m. [Devin, Ben and Reanna were there at 5:30 a.m., but were evicted by security and told to return at 7 a.m., and then weren't told of the time change.]
Building: This uncovered Macerich Corp. mall is in affluent Marin County, north of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco. It features two rows of buildings, with the businesses on an inside mall. The Apple store is at the south end of the mall adjacent to two clothing stores. Other tenants include Victoria's Secret, Gap, Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, Brookstone, and the two end-anchors, Macy's and Nordstrom. As of Sept. 16th DPR Construction worked on the interior of the space, which was otherwise completely empty. As of Oct. 19th the flooring was being installed, and many other features were in place. As of Oct. 28th the metallic storefront was up, window glass was installed, and furniture had been placed.
Features: This is a "narrow" style store (30' wide, 90' deep), bead-blasted stainless steel front, wooden display tables, POS at the rear. The narrowness of the store resulted in an unusual storefront--all glass with only a narrow metallic strip at the top with a single Apple logo.
Grand Opening: Saturday, November 1, 2003. Mall management originally said they would not let anyone on the property until 7 a.m., but allowed two persons to post-up in front of the store at 6:45 a.m.
