The West 14th Street (NYC) Apple store has some unique architectural features for the chain, including the stairs and windows. Here are some bonus photos of the store, taken on the Sunday after the grand opening. The windows in those commonly used in warehouses and other work-related buildings. Just under the windows is a seating ledge topped with what feels like stone or masonry. The ledge was immediately identified by people for a seating place, although I saw Apple staffers "working" the area to engage people who sat for a long period of time.

Also check the two pages of interior photos taken during the night-time grand opening. The lighting in the lobby is completely different, providing a very different experience.
