Pudong Glass Cylinder Patent

In September 2011 the Chinese Patent office granted Apple several patents related to the design of the Pudong (Shanghai) retail store, including the 40-foot tall glass cylinder entrance. These drawings accompanied the patent application, as reported by Patently Apple.

There are 10 of the 40-foot tall curved panels, two short curved panels above the door, 12 vertical support fins, 12 horizontal support fins at the top, 12 curved support fins at the top, two door side panels, two doors and one rain canopy. According to those totals, the cylinder is composed of 53 glass panels.

This drawing relates to the patent granted for the design and production of the 40-foot tall, 10½-foot wide, curved glass panels used for the entrance cylinder.

This drawing relates to the overall design of the Pudong glass entrance cylinder, including the glass support fins, rain canopy and glass entrance doors.
