When it was first reported that the store was “one story above ground and x below”, I didn’t quite believe it because it’s a tall building. But peaking inside, it is just one story above ground: one very brightly lit story that must be at least 30 feet tall and looks like it’s going to be a modern cathedral to all things Apple. Aside from the fact that it probably won’t have a presentation theatre like the Soho store has, I think this is probably going to be the nicest NYC Apple store. When the covering comes down off of the glass, I think it’s really going to be spectacular – more spectacular than the Fifth Avenue cube because it looks into the store, not just the elevator and stairway.

But having said all that, I still don’t personally understand why anyone would wait on line for X hours in the cold to get into the store on opening day…it’s not like they’re selling product for half price or anything. Is a t-shirt that worth it? But different strokes…

I have been the 2 Manchester store openings in the UK, but i’m ready for some yankee action! It’s my first time over the pond and i cant wait! This store opening has really made it for me!
My girlfriend wasnt happy when i mentioned an overnight camp out.. .so i think it will be a early morning alarm call instead.
