Crooks Target New Jersey Store

May 12, 2009

Police believe it’s only coincidence that the Sagemore (NJ) retail store was the site of two shoplifting arrests and a night-time burglary within just five days. On May 5th two men came into the store and were observed stealing a set of $180 headphones. The men, 44 and 50 years-old, were detained and arrested by Evesham Police, who found one suspect was carrying brass knuckles. The other suspect was carrying property worth $680 that police learned had been stolen earlier from the Cherry Hill (NJ) Apple store. They’re both held on $2,500 bail. Then early Sunday morning one or more burglars broke the left-front glass door of the Sagemore store with a large piece of concrete. A police report says the burglar stole eight computers and eight iPhones worth $16,000. The door has now been boarded up with the traditional black-painted wood, and the store remains in operation…with a staff upset at the invasion of their workplace. Update: On May 14th burglars smashed the window of the Suburban Square (Penn.) retail store with a large rock and took about 10 laptops and 10 iPhones. Police are investigating if the crimes are linked–both stores are located in an outdoor mall, and are just 25 miles from each other.
