Take a Buddy to Work

May 11, 2009

Was this photo taken on national Take Your Dog to Work Day? Apparently not. Instead, according to a publicly-available Web site, this cute chihuahua follows around her owner during after-hours work at an Apple store. Check some back-of-house action after the break.

Here’s the break room area, with the handheld computers being recharged in the upper left. The coffee maker and microwave oven are close at hand on the right.

Wow they need to update! In our back of house, we’re at least running last years iMacs.

By the way, there’s no way that can be a “Genius work area”. 1) There’s microwave and coffee maker. No food in the Genius Room.
2) EasyPays or “handheld computers” as you call them are found in the break room.
3) No blue static free mats!

Being an Apple website, you should at least know basic obvious things a bit better when you post.

Ouch! I’ve corrected the story. It does appear that the photos are 2007-vintage. Nobody mentioned the cute dog!

Take a look at the first picture. Based on the poster on the back wall, it was obviously taken in summer 2007. The aluminum iMacs weren’t even out yet.

I really think there’s times that Gary is unappreciated. For the most part, these are user-submitted stories. Very few press releases or sources to quote. I get harsh on traditional news sources who get facts wrong. Case-in-point, a Forbes article about the promise of Palm and in it the writer said “Apple changed the game once again by beating smartphone makers to the punch when it included 3G support in its second iteration of the iPhone.” My research showed the first 3G phone in 2006, yet Forbes, the leader in financial magazines, completely blew that fact.

Gary’s doing the best he can with what he’s got. The original poster probably didn’t date stamp the pics and the Exif data was probably lost in the posting. Cute pictures, unique story, and prompt updating once more facts emerged.

Thanks Gary,
-Brian
