The faltering economy has forced Apple to once again switch its plans for a new store in Greenville (SC), and to sign a lease at the Haywood Mall along Interstate 385 on the city’s east side. The mall was reportedly Apple’s first choice for a store back in August 2007, but an appropriate space wasn’t available. The company then jumped to the Magnolia Park Town Center, just two miles away and undergoing a redevelopment. But the project was delayed several times, and began to falter last year. Now the economic downturn seems to have dealt the final blow for the mall–Apple has signed a lease with Simon Property Group Inc. for a space at Haywood Mall. The store could open by early 2010.

Hopefully they’ll start posting job listings soon as I’d love to try and get a part time position for nights and weekends!
Ooh, yeah, I’m with Shawn. Let’s see the jobs (and the employee discounts)!
Apple has indeed signed a lease for Haywood Mall. Rumor has it that they’ll be going into the old Glamour Shots retail spot. Opening is late 2009/early 2010.
Glamour Shots…? That could be a good location. It doesn’t seem large enough, though.
I have it from a fairly reliable source that Apple is going to take the current location of “The Children’s Place” as well as a neighboring store (in effect occupying 2 locations). Not sure which “other” store it is but according to this map, it would be one of the stores listed in the G section.

Apparently The Children’s Place is moving into Eddie Bauer which just closed their Haywood Mall location.
The Greenville Apple Store was announced earlier this week.
