Despite speculation of an Edinburgh (Scotland) retail store, Apple has hopscotched over that city and will locate its next store at the Union Square complex in Aberdeen. The city-center complex is still under construction, with a planned September grand opening. It will include retail shops, a cinema and 203-room hotel, all adjacent to the city’s bus station and impressive rail station. It would be the second store in the country, after to Buchanan Street in Glasgow. The location of the Apple store within the complex isn’t known, but it will likely open at the same time as the mall. View renderings after the break.
The complex abuts the very historic railway station, which becomes one wall of the interior space.

What does that mean, ‘very’ historic?
Interesting that Apple might be locating in Aberdeen before Edinburgh – perhaps quality retail space is easier to come by (or has less of a wait time to become available) than in the ‘capital’ city.
I guess there’s a lot of oil money up in Aberdeen and with the tram works closing down a lot of Edinburgh, it might not be the best time to open up there.
I was really looking forward to the next Apple store being Edinburgh. There is still a lot of rumors and stuff going about that the old Zavvi store on Princess Street has been leased by Apple. Be an awesome location for Apple with beautiful views of the castle!
Am so happy about Apple store in Aberdeen , why would they put one in Edinburgh when the store in Glasgow is 40 mins away , Aberdeen is the fastest growing retail sector in the uk hardly affected by the credit crunch, sound business sense Apple
