The Eaton Centre (Toronto) retail store is scheduled to close for nearly three weeks beginning November 3rd, in order to renovate the store in an unknown way. The store opened in May 2006 as a nearly 5,000 square-foot operation, and then closed this past summer for a series of renovations.

As of yesterday (Monday, October 27), this store was still its much smaller, about 1/10th of prior size, temporary renovation store. If the store is closing for 3 weeks in less than a week, I’m sure it is to finish the renovation. It seems like it has been undergoing the renovation for a very long time, maybe 3 months or more. Looking at an older story from this site, the store did close to start the reno on August 11. http://www.ifoapplestore.com/db/2008/08/10/eaton-centre-to-be-closed-for-make-over/
On August 17 the temporary reno store was reported to be opened. http://www.ifoapplestore.com/db/2008/08/17/eaton-centre-cut-down-revealed/
So, if the store is closed for nearly 3 more weeks starting the 3rd to presumably Friday the 21st or Saturday the 22nd, the renovation will have taken nearly 3 months and 2 weeks. Hopefully the months of lost sales can be made up with the new configuration, as it has been truly a dreadful place to go to every time I have gone – stifling heat, nearly twice as packed as the normally fully packed store, and an obviously smaller selection of iPhone and iPod accessories, which happened at a bad time, since the iPhone was released here a month before the reno started and new iPods were released a month after it started.
