Next UK Store Confirms Apple’s 2-Level Plans

September 11, 2008

The grand opening of the next United Kingdom Apple store confirms reports that future stores in the country will all be two-levels, and that stores will eventually sprout along the Main Street of every large city on the island. Insiders say the Cabot Circus (Bristol) store will at the end of this month, possibly the same day that the new downtown mall opens on September 25th. It will be the 17th UK store, less than one-half of the company’s eventual goal of 35 to 40 stores as reported by tipsters.

Strictly speaking, the correct terminology should be “isles”, not “island” as the UK is made up of four countries and several (very sizeable) islands.

And just for fun, we Brits say “high street” and not “main street”. :-)

Marco Kathuria –

Thanks for the local feedback. After all, you guys do own English.

The use of ‘downtown’ and ‘mall’ are also amusing. Cabot Circus is a shopping centre in the city centre

I’ve just returned from one of my three to four yearly trips each year to the USA. On almost every trip I’m repeatedly surprised by finding someone that’s shocked to hear that we actually have Apple Stores in UK!

Not only do we have them, but we must have more per head of population or square mile than many States?

Dan W — I try to write “local”…I really do. But sometimes I just revert to “American.”
