Resellers Not Sitting Down, Customers Are

September 10, 2008

Despite the success of Apple’s retail initiative–and, in fact, probably because of them–authorized Apple resellers continue to mine the territories where Apple stores are located, and many where there are not. One of those resellers, The Mac Store, serves a territory ranging from Eugene (Ore.) north to Redmond (Wash.) with nine stores. They call themselves, “the oldest locally-owned and operated Apple reseller in the Pacific Northwest.” Their newest location opened in the Clackamas (Ore.) Town Center mall, and features an iPod product area, help desk, displays of the full range of Apple products and even housecalls. The chain takes Apple’s “Come on in!” attitude one more step by including a cozy couch and chairs, huddled around a big-screen HD television. Check out photos of the store after the break.

Surf The Mac Store’s Web site for more flavor of their reseller culture.

The location provides plenty of visibility, as well as floor space.

Couches, chairs and an HD television showing Apple TV.

This is why Apple doesn't like exterior windows--it creates a too-bright background for products displays that depend upon screen visibility.

OK…a Windows logo is prominent at the front desk. Giv'em a break.

Nice store !! I can’t believe it has an Ipod Product Area. This is something missing from a lot of stores I have been to in my area. Wow an Ipod product area. I wish I had one out in my barn. I would sit out there all day long playing with my ipod and making it better than any ipod in the world.

When I get some money after the rain season, I’m going there to get me an iPod like Levi wants for his barn.

But I don’t have a barn, instead I have a shed.
I’m going to have mine in the shed and wish for the day when I can get a barn.

Darn that Levi, he’s such a show off with all that barn talk and all.

Don’t you go a bustin on Levi and his barn. He’s worked long and hard for that barn – even during the rain season.

The town is called Redmond. Microsoft is there. Not Redmont….
