Over two years the IFO community began watching a vacant lot in Westlake (Ohio), the future home of the Crocker Park shopping and residential development. As the months went by, development maps showed Apple as a tenant, and job listings were posted in October, 2006. But it was over one year before building permits were issued for construction, trying the patience of even the most loyal Apple store fan. Now, long-time store watcher Eric has the latest photos that show progress on the store.
Check Eric’s on-going blog about the store’s construction.
Here is Eric’s first photo of the future Apple store location, taken in Oct. 2006. His latest photos were taken from the left of this position.

The development includes ground-floor retail and upper floor apartments, all set in a Main Street-style lay-out. There is a park-like area in front of the Apple store, which is the space behind the orange forklift near the middle of the photo.

Some of the stainless steel has already been installed on either end of the storefront, and the space for the back-lit logo has been set out. The brick sidewalk is still being installed.

These photos were taken days later.
