Continuing with the pre-holiday push to open new stores, Apple will open at the Renaissance at Colony Park (Ridgeland, Miss.) and The Forum Shops (Las Vegas) this Saturday at 10 a.m. The former is the first in the state, and will occupy a key location to fill a 233,000 square-mile black-out zone for residents of four southern states. The latter store will open at 10 a.m. each day and, befitting a store just 750 feet from slot machines, will close at either 11 p.m. or midnight (Fri./Sat.). The new store also grants Las Vegas the honor of having the second-largest concentration of Apple stores: three locations within 4.2 miles (Manhattan is first with three stores within 3.4 miles).

Dont forget that sometime next year, Las Vegas will (hopefully) get a fourth Apple Store in the CityCenter project, which is between the Forum Shops store and the Town Square store.
I disagree. NYC (Manhattan) has three stores – Flaships at that – within less than 4 miles of each other. 3.5 Miles from SoHo to 5th Avenue – with 14th/9th in between.
GeneMG — Oops! You’re correct! I measured 3.4 miles, if you connect the Fifth Avenue, West 14th Street and SoHo stores with a straight line. It would be even less if you measured directly between Fifth Avenue and SoHo.
Are the 67th and Broadway and the Empire St Bldg area (34th Street) stores still a go?
Cedric Brown –
The 67th & Broadway is a go, but I believe the 34th Street location is dormant. There is also a Wall Street location that could open during 2009.

We covered this event, fantastic turn out but I think that goes hand in hand with Mac lovers!

Kelly – You comment is a little cryptic. Where is the grand opening coverage posted, and is that Web link actually live? The site looks slightly unfinished.
