There have been persistent rumors that Apple encountered building permit problems after submitting a building permit application for the store on Wisconsin Avenue in the Georgetown section of Washington (DC). The former tenant has long-since moved out, but now photos of the interior show that nothing has changed since the departure. The evidence all leads to the question: Is this still an active store location? The store would be the first within the District, although there are several other stores in surrounding Maryland and Virginia. See photos after the break.

It seems Apple Retail has a lot on their plate, now! You’ve got the Santa Barbara Store jes’ settin’, and lots of big new stores (Munich) taking forever to build! And there’s the big Depression coming up to worry about!
Architectural guidelines within the historic district are very strict. This may be a location Apple has to concede to a less modern storefront.
Is that the old location of FCUK? well its almost apple like..Just add some aluminum and add more class stairs and then its an Apple Store
I can’t understand why they don’t put the store in Dupont Circle instead. There’s no Metro Access to Georgetown. Maybe we’ll be lucky and get 2 stores here in DC. I’m sick of making the trip to Clarendon.
Maybe they finally realized that Georgetown wasn’t the best address for them in DC? :) I must say, the new flagship AT&T store in Chinatown would have been the perfect Apple store in DC. Maybe there’s still hope…
