Vi este “anuncio” en Caribbean Business, y me pareció una forma extraña de presentar un asunto de tanta importancia para la isla. Puerto Rico necesita y merece un Apple Store, y enero de 2009 sería una buena fecha…

Not a good sign when the serious “business media” decides to play tricks on us.
We’ve been waiting for a story like that one in the island for many years now. Looks like a publicity stunt to me.
Anyway, Mac users would be better served with a REAL Apple store. The iPhone story in Puerto Rico is a joke. AT&T is giving the service but we can’t buy the phone locally.
Will Apple ever decide to just make a small restructure which moves Puerto Rico and other territories like the U.S. Virgin Islands out of the International list? It is easy indeed and would make a lot of unhappy Apple customers who are American Citizens very happy.
We can’t buy AppleCare, iPhones, Quicktime Pro or even the MPEG2 codec.

I believe it’s immoral for anyone, especially such an important publisher as Casiano Communications, to publish an ad like this one without making it VERY obvious to the reader that this is only a sample of what some day might be published on their website. It is clearly a publishing stunt.

Puerto Rico needs and wants an Apple Store. But this is not the way to get one… Come on, Caribbean Business, let’s get serious.

I was so happy when I found out we were finally getting an Apple Store, but upon finding out this is just a sample. I’m so dissapointed in Caribbean Business for the false hope.
We want an Apple Store, mainly because Apple presence here is just absent, the only thing close to apple here is Best Buy which has an Apple Shop. But it’s still not the real Apple Store experience. Also no quicktime licenses, no AppleCare on desktops, and no iPhone support, even though we have AT&T (which is the same mainland AT&T) and we have America Movil (Claro). And even though we have both those companies here, there is no iPhone support.

I hope Apple opens a store here in the future and changes it’s policies on US Territories, we are still part of the United States.

Damn, another deception.

Once I saw the ad, I said my self “Now you don’t have to wait for a business trip or vacations to go to an Apple Store” At this pace, by the time Apple opens a store in PR, if ever. Probably there will be nobody interested.
Why??? Because of the apple imposed difficulties to acquired their products here.

We are lucky some mega stores bring iPods and iMacs and Macbooks here, but you can’t even buy a Quicktime Pro licence here, as a friend always says.

Enough said. or I’ll get out of control.

I think this is a mock up of a publication not the actual publication itself.

Still, Casiano Communications, should know better, than to play with stuff that is not real, like not lying. Then again, if someone in the Puerto Rican industry knows about lying its Casiano Communications. Back in the day they assured Microsoft they had all legal copies in their offices, and after a thorough investigation Casiano Communications ended paying Microsoft over 14 million as a result of a lawsuit, where the results showed that Casiano Communications, had over 80% of their computers running illegal copies of Windows.

So it doesnt surprise me a lot that they are running tabloids that dont exist in their mockups or news sources. Its excpected of them.
