First Kansas Store Ready for Opening

July 8, 2008

Apple will open its first store in Kansas this Friday at the new One Nineteen shopping development in the city of Leawood. Officially known as the “Leawood” store, the 8 a.m. store opening will coincide with the debut of the new iPhone 3G. Commemorative T-shirts will be handed out to the first 1,000 store visitors. The store will serve an upscale corner of the state, and is just 10 miles from the existing Country Club Plaza store across the river in Kansas City (Mo.).

Considering that the Missouri river has already turned east before it even gets to the Plaza area it’s not correct to say that Leawood is across the river from the Plaza store. More correct is to say that it’s across the state line. [IFO -- Thanks...geographic point taken.]
