Interior construction work on the future King Street retail store in Charleston (SC) is progressing, according to photos of the narrow store provided by Nick. The storefront is covered by the usual black construction barricade, but interior photos show that most of the sidewall display furniture has been installed, and plywood on the floor suggests that the stone flooring has also been laid down. The store will open before the Thanksgiving holiday.
Thanks to Nick for these photos.

In this photo you can see that the side display tables are in place, and the stone flooring might also be installed, but covered with plywood.

Cool – thanks for the update and pix! I’ve been curious about how far along they are, since they’ve already hired the store employees, and have had some sort of orientation for them.
Any future employees out there who know the approximate date of opening?
I wish someone knew more about a opening date. It’s seems they are pretty far along if they only plan to open right before Thanksgiving. DV, how do you know they have had orientation? I have applied and have heard nothing. I’m hoping it’s not too late!
A friend of a friend (yeah, I know…) said that he went to some kind of Apple (prospective-?) employee meeting. Of course, this could be completely incorrect info.
Also, my hair stylist (yeah, I know…) said that one of her clients got hired to work there – and that was about 2 months ago.
However, it really wouldn’t make sense to hire people so early for a November opening date, so I don’t know how good my information is…
Yes, but will they serve $1.50 PBR?
Last I had heard it was supposed to open in September. Originally I had thought that too far out, but it with being July 12 and the wall still up, it’s seeming more feasible.
While waiting in line for an iPhone this past weekend, I was talking with the significant other of an employee and she stated they’re opening early August.
Also, I was on King Street yesterday and they had the black construction doors open and were installing the glass front doors. You could see inside and the sidewall backlights were installed (along with the rest of the store lighting) and I even saw some of the tables set up. I had my camera and was going to take some pictures but there were people there that said I couldn’t. They look really far along.
Hellz yeah! But… I still haven’t heard anything from them as far as me getting a part time job there. I guess it’s for the best because I might be moving back to Miami soon.
Awesome. I’m sure they did not want to open right before the iPhone launch, but I know they want to catch the back-to-college crowd, and August would be perfect.
Mike, don’t let them fool you – as long as you’re outside on public property taking pictures, they cannot do anything about it. Inside the store is another thing however – they stopped me taking pics of the glass staircase in Soho.
The Store will open Around July 26th 2008. This is word I received via an Apple store employee.

Woohoo!
Finally! I’ll see you guys Saturday at 10am! Sucks they never called me about a job though. I was looking fowarded to a cool part time gig. I guess it’s for the best since I’m relocating in a few weeks.
