Thanks ItsASecret. Now to add my $.02 to the pics put up thursday evening from the "set". As a film student, I've seen many setups like at 5th Avenue, and it looks pretty large to be for Apple. I'm not sure Apple has EVER used a camera crane like that Panavision that was sitting ON 5th ave. That 24-cell bank of lights behind the diffusion is also some serious wattage. The latest iPhone ads, the testimonials, were very basic. All there really was was a blank backdrop and maybe a light or two, but probably just a bunch of reflective boards, whereas this is some serious equipment. Unfortunately nobody has posted a good shot of the director's car on the 5th Ave sidewalk which should be able to tell us what kind of shoot they're doing, whether a 2-up (2 camera as in a TV show) or just a 1-up, say interviews or whatnot. Hopefully we'll find out in 1 1/2 weeks.

Late last year the 5th Avenue store was shut down in the late night/early morning hours to film scenes for the Eddie Murphy movie, Meet Dave. [IFO -- Opens July 11th. Catch the trailer.]

Funny, my first thought was that it might be related to this:

http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2008/05/27/2008-05-27_fao_schwarz_shoppers_spot_mice_darting_b.html

FAO Schwarz is in the GM Building, the same complex as the 5th Ave Apple Store. The story's been picked up and blown out of proportion by the NY tabloid media (as usual), but it wouldn't surprise me if Apple is shutting down the store and calling in exterminators to be safe.

The above question was my exact thought, especially with the recent news of the Apple Store contractors in the film studio. Apple promotional video as in the ones that the employees see online about preventing theft, etc?

What "movie production" has previously closed this store?? [IFO -- It may have been an Apple promotional film.]
