New Store Threatened by Reseller Curse

May 12, 2008

In a startling development, Apple’s future Boylston Street (Boston) store could be the focus of a curse perpetrated by next-door reseller Tech Superpowers. According to a Boston Globe story and photos, company owner Michael Oh stole across the alley separating the two locations last month, and used a shovel to bury a Tech Superpowers T-shirt that workers later covered with a cement walkway. The attempt to influence the store’s business mimics a similar attempt by a Red Sox fan who reportedly buried a David Ortiz jersey at the new Yankee Stadium. “This T-shirt in the sidewalk is a symbol that there’s a connection between the two sides of the alley,” Oh told the newspaper. Let the fun begin.

I’m going to have to quote NY Yankees president Randy Levine on this one: “It’s never a good thing to be buried in cement.”

Enjoy your 15 minutes while it lasts, Tech Superpowers! [IFO -- Ouch!]

It’s probably tresspassing and and at the very LEAST something incredibly silly for someone who OWNS a business to do. I’m sure that those workers that allowed it might be in for a rude surprise as well. Whoever wins the FLIP cam, go to that spot in the sidewalk and see if there’s a hole there. :)
