Installation of the impressive three-story glass façade of the future Boylston Street (Boston) store is nearly finished, and a close examination of photos from the site offer just a hint of its final beauty. The storefront is enclosed with a scaffolding, covered with a plastic material that makes direct viewing impossible. But slight bulges in the material allowed the green-blue hue of glass to shine out.
Thanks to Mark for the photos of the storefront. You can see the blue-green of the glass storefront in the upper-left corner of this view. The front will mimic the Fifth Avenue glass cube in appearance and design, allowing a totally transparent view of all levels of the store.

Here’s another glimpse of the glass–a small view.

The glass is even harder to see here.

Dear God. Really? Might as well show a picture of a roll of TP. This is useless, again.
Wow Gene … The photos clearly aren’t action-packed journalism, but then they aren’t intended to be. Avert your gaze if you choose …
AMAZING!!!
OMIGOSH! THIS IS FREAKIN’ AWESOME! I CAN”T WAIT!!! [IFO -- OK, OK. The photos aren't exactly a revelation. But with Apple, you take your glimpses when you can. We'll just have to wait until a wind storm tears more of the covering back.]
tear it down by mistake? woops
Actually the more impressive thing is what is happening in the back today (4/9/08)…well…check out the webcam, they’re putting the finish walls on the back of the store. At the moment they’re at the height were you can just start to see it on the camera. It looks like it’s going to be the the large stone-esque style they used on some of the earlier store facades. It will be the nicest alley facing wall ever!
on Friday the storefront glass upright broke expect the store to opening to be pushed back a while
I poked my head in today, and could see the central glass cylinder (staircase) and the front glass façade. Very cool. Initially one of the workers was cool about me looking – even pulling back the plastic walk-through curtain – but then his boss (the foreman?) yelled at him to stop that, and ordered him to close the exterior door too. “You can’t be showing him that!” he said. Sooo secretive.
will the store be opened before april 27th? Thanks! [IFO -- We're thinking more like the middle of May, but...who knows?]
