Gary, not sure if you have the figures to work this one out but, UK must be close (if not there) to having more Apple Stores per head of population or per square mile than many USA States, perhaps even the whole of USA?

Yes – sure enough if you do some digging on jobs.apple.com they now have jobs listed for:

’state’ Avon
‘location’ Bristol – Bristol City Centre

Interesting the postcode is shown as BS1 3BZ which doesn’t seem to yet exist on Google Maps, but the BS1 post code does indicate city centre

This will almost definitely then be in the new Cabot Circus shopping / leisure development which is currently being built (hence the new postcode…) and is scheduled to open in Autumn 2008 – see http://www.cabotcircus.com

Good news for me as a resident of Bristol City Centre :-)

more reporting available at the below link – also talking about a November 08 opening as per the original article on this Web site. It’s from the article: “Computer giant Apple is to open a store in the new Cabot Circus shopping centre.” The store, which will open in November will be the 18th stand-alone Apple store to be opened in the UK. The firm, whose iPod mp3 player and iPhone mobile phone have become fashion items selling in their millions, is currently recruiting staff for the new shop via its website.

In Bristol, Apple already sells its products under licence through Western Computers in TempleGate.

The £500 million Cabot Circus development is due to open at the end of September.’

Hi, just though i should mention this. Although there’s not much proof after digging around the internet, the Evening Post i think it was said that the new Apple Store would be at an upmarket development of Lewins Mead. Although it would seem more like Apple to place it in Cabot Circus, i’m just saying what I’ve heard! Also Apple isn’t on the confirmed store list for Cabot Circus > “http://www.cabotcircus.com/template01.asp?pageid=93″

Hi, the link below shows Apple as having let over 6,000 sq ft of space in cabot circus.

a small point, but important. the myth that Bristol is in ‘Avon’ is a myth. Bristol is a city, in the county of Bristol, a status centuries old. Bristol addresses should end in ‘Bristol, Bristol, (then) Postcode’.
