The developer of a planned 80-story luxury condominium tower in downtown Toronto (Ont.) has bragged that Apple will occupy a large, anchor retail space in the building when it opens in 2011. The city finally approved the 1 Bloor East development by Bazis International last November despite objections about its record-setting height, and now the company will hold a unveiling press conference on April 5th. The three lower levels will include 100,000 square-feet of retail space, and Apple will presumably be located in the corner space. The development is adjacent to the University of Toronto, at the intersection of the city’s two highest-profile streets, and at the east end of an upscale shopping district. It would be the fourth store in Toronto, and about four miles from the existing Eaton Centre store.
