Two employees of the Rockingham Park (NH) retail store have been arrested and charged with felony theft after a police investigation confirmed the pair stole 332 iPhones from the store over several months. Some of the thefts were recorded on video after hours, police said. Police arrested Joshua Garrand, 28, at his home in Massachusetts, and Christopher Nashed, 22, at his home in Sandown (NH). It’s the first publicly-reported arrest of store employees for theft. As reported by the Eagle-Tribune (N. Andover, Mass.), store managers discovered iPhones missing in January and notified police. Investigators then examined store records to confirm the missing iPhones had been stolen. Police do not know how the suspects were selling the iPhones, but valued them at $132,468. Both men face 7-1/2 to 15 years in jail, and could be fined up to double the value of the stolen property. Read the full story here, and a follow-up story that details the “how” here.

I’m glad Apple actually prosecuted. I know an assistant manager at one of the Apple stores in Dallas/Fort Worth who was fired for stealing over $19,000 worth of merchandise over a 3 year period. He was selling it on eBay. I don’t understand why he wasn’t prosecuted for it.
this might be a change of policy for apple. for the whole time i was employed, apple would never prosecute just quietly make the problem go away.
note mentioned in Eagle Trib news article: Chris Nashed was a store manager.
(though it’s possible he was not at the time of this incident. he was a manger at Rockingham Park a couple of years ago, and also at North Shore in Danvers after that. I worked at Rockingham Park at the time he transferred to North Shore. he might have been moved to a lower position upon moving back to The Rock, but that was after I stopped working there.)
I’m in total shock. I worked at northshore under Chris for 2 years at the Northshore store. I just saw this news story on TV in Philadelphia where I am for work. WAAAT? And yes he was a manager at the rock during this time.
wow.
Stupid, stupid, stupid. Why throw away your career at quite possibly the best company to work for ever?
yes, i do believe apple does need to change alot of policies. apple is not the best company yet, its still growning!
