Apple will be opening a store in Waikiki. When I had a store in Waikiki the lease allowed me to close only on Christmas. Maybe Apple will be open on Easter or maybe they have enough clout to change a standard lease. Most stores in Waikiki are open every day. Mine was. Basically the tourists have nothing else to do so they wander around, notice that the stores are still open and then they shop. It was usually a good day.

The status of the Waikiki store is at:

The 5th Ave Store is open 24 hours a day, 365 a year (366 this year), besides that… a quick browse to other stores pages shows others that are also open, not even all flagships (Lincoln Road is a mall store).

One exception is of course the New York 5th avenue store - looks to be staying open!

Yeah, Ala Moana is open 10 to 6 on Easter Sunday.

Sorry for the multiple posts, but SoHo and 5th Avenue in Manhattan are also open on Sunday

Also, The Grove in L.A., Chesnut Street and the big store in San Francisco, 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, Lincoln Road in Miami Beach, Town Square in Vegas, The Pier in Atlantic City, and University Village in Seattle.

At least one in the U.K. is open too and I assume all in Japan, although I can’t read Japanese, so I’m not sure.

ALL Illinois stores will be closed.

It’s not up to Apple in most cases; most malls close for Easter Sunday. Hawaii, as noted, appears to be an exception here, as well as the standalone stores (where Apple probably has more, or perhaps all, say).

Traditionally, the decision on whether to close for Easter has been up to the individual Store Managers. This also has extended to extended hours in the summer months and at one time even holiday hours for the end of year shopping season.

As Apple opens more stores they may wish more conformity and the individual Store Managers may have less influence, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they still had some discretionary authority here. That would explain the “some are open, some are closed” nature of the posts we’re seeing.
