A third retail store has been identified for Australia, located in the suburb of Chatswood north of Sydney. The store will probably be located within the city centre Westfield Chatswood shopping mall, an indoor center along a highway and commuter train line that brings in visitors from a wide area. The new store is about seven miles north of the future George Street store in Sydney, which opens in April. Job listings for this newest store have been posted, and it could open by October, 2008.

BOOM! Cool seeing as the shopping centre is two minutes from my place :)
I think that BOOM you hear is Henrick (the owner of the current Chatswood store) falling off his chair.
Isn’t it great to know that all the independent guys are competing with a company that doesn’t only have more money (hello, $16.4 billion in cash) but they actually know where the best places to open up a store are, cos they keep tabs on who is selling lots.
I don’t know, is that an anticompetitive practice?
I heard/read that it won’t open in Westfield but in Chatswood Chase, just down the road. IMHO the Chase is more in-keeping with Apple’s style focus, and it’s about to undergo a huge expansion.
The Apple logo is up in Chatswood Chase, so it’s confirmed. Also, just quietly agentofkaos, I’ve heard things about the local Apple reseller – they’re gonna be putting up a very, very good fight in the near future.
I was in Chatswood Chase shopping centre today.
The new apple store was well hidden behind the matt blck hording. unfortunately they left the door ajarjust enough to take a peek.
The store was empty except for building materials on the ground. No store lighting or fittings.
I reckon the opening of the store is aleast a few months away
