Apple’s retail store Web page seems prepared to post store-by-store availability for the new Macbook Air laptop. The page notes that, “The world’s thinnest notebook is coming.” It then adds, “MacBook Air will be available at Apple Retail Stores soon. Check back for the most up-to-date in-store availability.” Apple posted the availability of the iPhone for several months after it was introduced, with a page updated daily listing each store location, and whether the iPhone was in-stock at that store.

MacBook Air laptops went on display at the Tampa, FL, store on Saturday afternoon. Initially it as just one; by the evening there were three on display. I talked to an Apple employee on Monday the 4th at around 5 PM and he said that they had 10 in stock that morning and that they sold out very quickly.
There were 24 available at the International Plaza Mall store in Tampa, FL this Tuesday afternoon. Yesterday, they sold out of the 10 they had in stock.
