Yes indeed, the story's as fishy as they come. Here's the video of the "protesters charging":

http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2008/01/388705.html

Phew, really threatening. Can anyone really think that one of these guys came back and left a burning box of fireworks at the door? Wouldn't that be a bit counterproductive considering the carols got a positive reception from people? Why would the group, having made their point in a creative and amusing way, then turn round and try to terrify people? As can be seen in the video, the group visited many stores and not just Apple. Watch the video, then decide for yourself.

Oh and mumbojumbo please stop talking out of your backside. We sang at many stores that day plus in carnaby street. We sang at Starbucks in carnaby street too and they behaved with humour and grace and gave us free coffee!

Why are you lying? I was there. I was part of the anti corporate carol singers. It was a bit of fun. Most of us are Mac users actually including me.
There was no box of fireworks left by us. This is total disinformation. And I thought mac was 'alternative'.

Oh dear, this story is wholly inaccurate. This was peaceful carol singing, and they indeed did visit several other stores. The fireworks were completely unrelated.

Report here: http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2008/01/388705.html

How unfortunate that somebody's irresponsible act has been incorrectly linked to a creative and thought provoking musical performance. Even more unfortunate is everybody's willingness to unquestioningly accept what they read and dismiss the protest element of the songs without considering what they might be about.

Some things just don't smell right in this story:

How can 20 people 'storm' a store that has more people than that go through the doors every minute?

Someone 'apparently' recognised the person who left the box of fireworks well enough to know it was one of the same group, but there's no mention of them calling the cops?

The fireworks gave out enough smoke outdoors to sting someone's eyes without burning them?

Yeah, right. And Rudolf is a dogcow.

Funny thing is did these " protesters " go and sing at any other store? Nope! Just shows you how cowardly they really are. They were probably from GreenPeace...

I like the fact that the brave Concierge came to the rescue and worked quickly to protect customers and employees... its hilarious because they seem to do everything in the stores... and now they can add one more thing to there belt... protecting apple store from explosives....

If you want to protest outside of a high profile business, I am OK with that. Leaving a burning explosive device, particularly one designed to explode <i>at a distance and with no guidance control</i> is cowardly at the very least. How many people who want to spend their money are going to be persuaded to go against that desire by being attacked with explosives?

There are all kinds of nuts out there. Conservative....NeoCon anyone? Faith based nuts usually considered conservative though not always. Liberal nuts abound no doubt. However I'm not sure being anti-capitalist is "liberal" cause? I've not heard of this before as a movement and it does not make much sense too me (though to be fair few causes do make sense to me)

I doubt that these guys are communists - the McCarthy days are over. There's a certain mind set that turns sane individuals into an insane mob, whether they are mods/rockers, skinheads, bosozoku (Japanese motorcycle gangs), soccer hooligans or whatever.

As for "terrorists" that's another story altogether.

Bush apparently wept at the funeral of an officer who jumped on a grenade to save his men. It's a shame that he can't seem to equate this noble sacrifice with the guys who strap a bomb onto their chests and blow themselves and a bunch of invaders up.

Sounds like London...

There's a wing of liberal thought here (not really communist at all) which likes to justify this sort of thing, just as Greenpeace cooked lies against Apple (and not the rest) for raw publicity alone.

The police won't do a thing about it. Though you can expect a ton of bad press for Apple if they up security after a round of these incidents, giving photographers something "menacing" to look at.

Someone call the sixties: we've found the far end of their pointless protests, would they like it back?
