Seldom does a month go by that I don't frequent 3rd St Promenade, Beverly Center, The Grove, Century City and Manhattan Village here in So. Calif. Only once have I heard a staff member have to tell patrons to leave the store (pre-teen kids in this case). I suspect that Apple carefully considers crime stats when picking their store locations.

I know that Manhattan is blanketed by New York's finest. This is the spot that the media focuses its attention. When Mayor Giuliani and Chief Bratton (glad he's on LA's team now) were cleaning up NYC you almost exclusively heard about Times Square and the rest of Manhattan. I suspect it's not quite as comfortable walking alone at night elsewhere. I remember the movie"City by the Sea" staring Robert De Niro and Frances McDormand which was set in Long Beach, Long Island. You talk about one bad looking chunk of real estate. I would want a SWAT team with me night and probably daytime also. I suspect Apple says to itself why look for trouble?

Thanks to the publisher/writer of this brochure for the inaccuracies - the title should be either "Three Amazing Stores, One BOROUGH" or "Four Amazing Stores, One City".

I've traveled out to the store on Staten Island many many times - the sales, management, and creative staff is beyond professional, the store is clean and friendly, and you can actually GET appointments to see the talented guys behind the Genius Bar.

Why do so many forget that New York City is comprised of five boroughs, that Manhattan is only one of them, and that the Staten Island store was Apple's SECOND in NYC, opening long before 5th Ave?
