Frozen Crowd for Princesshay Opening

November 24, 2007

Below-freezing temperatures greeted the waiting line for the Princesshay (Exeter, UK) store grand opening today, and perhaps Apple revealed its future store design plans. The two-level store features an all-glass storefront, with a stainless steel frame set about six-feet behind. Like the new Chestnut Street store (SF), there’s a suspended, back-lit Apple logo suspended at the top of the storefront. Inside, there is the typical stainless steel walls, stone floor and wood display tables, all arranged in a narrow, 20-foot wide box. At the back of the 40-foot deep store, the glass stairway to the second level is also unusual–it’s constructed in two flights, since there was insufficient space for a single run or a circular design.
