A neighboring business has posted a large collection of photos (flickr) of the Chestnut Street (San Francisco) retail store construction, which Apple has announced will open on Black Friday, November 23rd at the early hour of 9 a.m. The photos include the arrival of the stainless steel storefront panels that will highlight the stores interior. Fireside Camera occupies the space directly east of the space Apple will occupy, and employees have documented much of the work on the space, including steel work, placement of the heritage clay roof tiles, and interior work visible through the front opening. The small camera and photo supply shop has been in the Marina District since 1954. The photos show that Apple completely replaced the sidewalk in front of the new store, a common Apple project to insure the store’s appearance is perfect. From the street the building appears as a single level, but in fact there is a second-level storage area set at the back of the property, all so the store matches the adjacent heritage buildings and the neighborhood in general. In e-mail announcing the opening, Apple calls it “the perfect day.”

That’s a crap-load of photos! Big props to them for getting that set up. I’ll be there for MWSF08 and will have to stop by.
The store will open friday November 23rd. I guess when the holiday season approaches, they really kick it in high gear to finish stores. So no stainless steel on the exterior? I like that if it’s going to match the area more.

Yes, a lot of pictures. The billboard on the location to the right seems to over hang the Apple location. Is that legal?
In Hawaii billboards are not legal. Picture your town that way. An improvement?
