Apple announced the availability of the iPhone at the company’s retail stores in the United Kingdom this Friday, at the strange time of 6:02 p.m. The iPhone will also be available at O2 and Carphone Warehouse stores in the country. In a press release, Sr. V-P Ron Johnson is quoted saying, “We can’t wait for our customers to get their hands on the iPhone this Friday night.” He added that the Genius Bars will provide iPhone support, and there will be free workshops on using the iPhone starting on Saturday. The iPhone was first introduced June 29th in the United States. The iPhone will also go on sale at T-Mobile stores in Germany November 9th. After those introductions, Apple expects to expand distribution to France and Canada, possibly by the end of the year. Update: A queue started at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Regent Street (London) store.
