Boston Store Steel Going Up

August 29, 2007

Construction on the future Boylston Street (Boston) retail store swung into high gear last week as workers began erecting the structural steel. A truck arrived at 5 a.m. on August 19th with girders to construct a platform at the front of the lot for a crane that arrived the next day. Steel columns and girders were then craned into place over the next several days, clearly outlining the store. This week the steel base floor is being installed, along with additional beams. Watch the complete nine-day time-lapse movie in about two minutes. Also check these detailed reverse-angle photos taken by Paul Shoemaker of the Tech Superpowers Internet café.
