The interior of the new Buchanan Street store features a compact design, interior stone walls, long Genius Bar and a mezzanine overlooking a spiral glass staircase lit by tall adjacent windows. The first photos show that the interior design takes elements from several other Apple stores, but has its own personality formed from the building’s shape, size, materials and configuration. It’s obvious that Apple’s architects once again proved their talents, even when restricted in how much renovation they could perform on the building. Check these photos of the store’s interior, and here for on-going coverage of the grand opening waiting line. The store opens at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Maybe it’s the perspective of the photograph but it sure looks like the Genius Bar video screens in the Glasgow store are a tad larger than the ones we have here in California
So do you step down into the store? I keep reading that the first floor is sunken, but the exterior photos shows stairs up to the black doors. The store looks nice, creative, and very unique, Enjoy.

You walk into the store at street level and there is a first floor up to the Genius bar. The Glasgow Mac User Group will be gracing the line later this evening. To all that come to the opening, enjoy!

The uniqueness is great. Good job Apple.
I think that ever store should have something about them to make stand out. The cookie cutter stores work, now in shopping malls every where, but a little bit of local style would make them connect better with their communities. Gray walls, gray floors, dull ceilings do let the product stand out, but the stone walls and floors at Glasgow look great.
iam ariving at about 15 mins to 9 am how big do you think the lines will be and how many people are in the line at the moment
hey just wondering - where is the disabled access in the store? it seems to be all steps? looks seriously cool though inside! [IFO--It's on the right side of the storefront, and runs from the top of the steps near the door, downward behind the black wrough iron fencing to a small gate.]
As you can see on my blog I was there last night at the Friends & Family event thing. Tis a very cool store. Didn’t feel like queuing today, but here are some photos of the interior when there’s not too many people there.

I was at the Buchanan Street Apple Store opening this morning, queueing from 5.15am! The time until opening passed very quickly, as we swapped stories and tales between the other lovely Mac heads waiting with us. I’ve uploaded the pics I’ve taken of the interior and exterior to my .Mac wen gallery, with upload and download enabled for other people to enjoy.

Inside, the store is absolutely beautiful, I tried my best to capture the atmosphere and show off how beautiful the glass spiral staircase is, hope you like them.
Gavin.
