Torrential Rains Hit GM Building

August 8, 2007

A huge rainstorm dumped three inches of water in one hour on New York City, flooding the city’s subway system and many large office buildings, including the GM Building which houses Apple’s flagship Fifth Avenue retail store. There were reports that the CBS studios in the GM Building were flooded, forcing Morning Show staffers to other locations for Wednesday’s program. However, there has been no public word on how the rains might have affected the underground Apple store.

This story contradicts itself. The underground store IS the flagship Fifth Avenue store.

No contradiction, just emphasis, because someone (living in Amish country) may not realize that 5th Ave is underground.

5th Avenue isn’t underground; it’s the Apple 5th Avenue store that’s underground. :)

And if the TV studios got flooded, I can’t imagine that the store didn’t, but I haven’t heard any such reports.

I worked at 5th Ave when it opened last year, we had a few minor leaks through the ceiling but they were all patched pretty quickly – nobody has said that they had any leaks since.
