Steel Arrives at Los Gatos

August 2, 2007

Construction of the future Los Gatos (N. Calif.) retail store is continuing. The town of 28,000 is nestled between tony foothills southwest of San Jose, where Apple’s hopes to take advantage of its $133,480 average household income. The interior space has been gutted and refitted, and now the stainless steel has been delivered from Kikukawa Kogyo Co., Ltd. in Japan for the façade. The store could open by late September.

A construction worker told me (a local reporter) that they hoped to be done by August 15. That seems aggressive–there is no wallboard inside that I saw a few days ago–but it won’t be long.
