UK iPhone Carrier: Announced at Store?

July 9, 2007

Steve Jobs visited the Regent Street store on Sunday, leading to speculation that he’s in town to finalize an exclusive iPhone contract with an undisclosed UK cellular carrier. After the success of the iPhone in the United States, carriers are reportedly torn between the additional revenue that an iPhone deal would bring, and the strict conditions and low margin that Apple is demanding. Perhaps we’ll know soon: the Regent Street Concierge bar will be closed next Monday, July 16th, allowing Jobs the perfect opportunity to announce the UK iPhone deal at the store.

Please let that be true! (Also an Apple Store in Bristol would be good!)

Gary, I’m under the impression that O2 got the contract, although the ink’s not yet dry. Mike

I heard he was down at the O2 Centre Greenwich weekend before last as well (last weekend of June). Apparently he was quite impressed by the guys at the O2 store there.

It’s gotta be O2. They’re quite easily the most prolific mobile provider in the UK…

If only Orange were that good. :(

I live on a barge on the Thames. I think Steve should open an Apple store on the Thames. Thank you.

Replying to ukappleexpert (post 8) – the Cabot Circus opens officially in late 2008 so if Apple take a unit it’ll still be a long wait – but worth it!!

There is a Excellent Premium Reseller Store in Bristol. In Temple Meads opposite the train station. That’s your closest your going to get and from my own and a few friends and family, they have better customer service than any Apple Store out there!!!

I laugh when you guys talk about Customer Service. Apple Stores go beyond what any other retailer can do or does. Just because its Apple I think you expect to much. If you are rude to people and bitter because you ” heard ” were told the wrong thing then it is likely they will not go above and beyond the norm.
When you go to a restaurant and you are rude to the waiter do you think he doesn’t spit in your food? Your Mom & Pop stores are just as bad.

I cannot believe that Apple are not going to have a store in the new 500 million development Cabot Circus in Bristol, unless someone knows different! I have been on the the Bristol website to look at the stores, but no mention of Apple. They have just opened in Exeter of all places, but they would be missing out if they didn’t open in the 3rd financial city in the UK. Maybe somebody has some more info.

The Apple store Bristol is opening at Cabot Circus later this year apparently. I have just applied for a job there and had the interview yesterday.
