Construction on the future Meatpacking District (NYC) retail store is in the early stages, but e-mail sent to job seekers by Apple’s contract recruiter says they’ll be hiring personnel for the Mac Genius position by the end of July. Permit documents indicate that the building owner is completely gutting the building and performing a major renovation, including the addition of a third floor. Based on photos and on-site visits, construction could take another nine to 12 months to complete, long after the Genius positions are hired. An updated information brochure (pdf) by the developer indicates that Apple’s corner space is 45-feet wide on 14th Street, by the entire 108-foot depth of the building. Apple will occupy 12,617 square-feet on the ground and second levels of the building.
