AppleCare service for the new iPhone will be offered within two weeks at $69 for one year of service. This is a bit of a rip-off. Compare this to $59 for an iPod or $149 for 3 years for a MacBook.
$249 for a MacBook actually. Price-wise, compared with an iPod, it’s actually pretty in line. $59 for a $249 or $349 iPod…$69 for a $499 or $599 iPhone. [IFO -- AppleCare for the iPhone is reportedly for one year, while the Mac and iPod service is of 3 and 2 years respectively.]
The AppleCare for the iPhone is not priced yet and it is the same system as the iPod one… its a 2-year AppleCare Protection Plan with unlimited tech support. It’s coming out in late July and the price is yet to be released. [IFO -- Employees at some stores are telling visitors that it's coming in "two weeks" and that it will be $69 for one year.]
