iPhone Display Window: Simplicity

June 25, 2007

The iPhone window display is a model of simplicity, with an oversized iPhone seemingly operating as a real device, suspended in front of a white backdrop that states, “Coming June 29th.” Check these photos of the display and how it’s put together.

Why didn’t they use a Mac mini to power the LCD screen? They could’ve hid the whole thing inside the giant iPhone and reduced cable clutter –Not to mention that HUGE power brick!
I wonder if they are included with every purchase?

So, I was walking by my local Apple store, and I looked in the window, and I said “WHOA! That’s the iphone for me!”
It’s big enough so that my friends and I can watch movies on it without eyestrain, I will never lose or misplace it, everyone will KNOW that I’m cool enough to own an iphone, and best of all I don’t have to worry about my fat thumbs being to o big for the onscreen keyboard.
So, I went inside, but the “Genius” guy inside said they didn’t even sell the bigs ones, they just sold puny little iphones, and they didn’t even have those yet!! What’s the deal with that????????

Hmm,

Perhaps Dom Joly of the TV comedy program “Trigger Happy TV” should use one of these giant iPhones in his next series see http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/646842.stm

It is because they are using 30″ cinema displays in there and the mini cannot power the 30″. The 30″ requires a dual link dvi connector which is only on the mac pro and the macbook pro.

The iPhone window display is probably the most disappointing Apple Store window display I’ve ever seen. Yes, it’s simple, but it’s way too simple. The huge iPhone is cool, but that’s all there is. It lacks everything else that normally make Apple Store windows look amazing. There’s way too much empty space, the backdrop is a just plain white and well, that’s all it is. Not to mention the huge Mac Pro sitting in the corner with all of the cables exposed.

Agree or disagree, this is a disappointing Apple Store intro to the iPhone. You would expect more for the biggest thing to come from Apple in a long time.
